SIZING SUGGESTIONS:
When choosing your dog bed, we suggest the 60x60cm bed for dogs and cats up to 25lbs, the 80cm bed for dogs and cats up to 45lbs, and the 100cm bed for large dog breeds up to 90lbs.
NOTE : When in doubt, size up - no one likes falling out of the bed !
The fill weight for XXL is not specified precisely, but the air loft fiber filling in large sizes typically weighs 400-600g. This fill compresses under heavier dogs (over 50 lbs) and provides less orthopedic support than memory foam. If joint support is a medical priority (dogs with hip dysplasia or arthritis), an orthopedic foam base bed is more appropriate than fiber-filled donut beds of any size.
Vibrant colors like Red can bleed and fade faster than neutral tones in warm water. Wash the Red version in cold water only, inside-out if the cover is removable, with a color-safe detergent. Hot water and machine agitation are the primary causes of rapid color loss on dyed faux fur fabrics.
The non-slip rubber or silicone dots on the base remain effective for approximately 1-2 years of normal use. Mopping the floor with oily or waxy cleaners deposits a residue that reduces dot friction significantly. If the bed starts sliding, flip it over and wipe the non-slip surface with a dry cloth to remove floor cleaner buildup.
The enclosed raised walls help calm some anxious dogs during storms by providing a sense of physical containment. However, for thunder phobia specifically, the sound stimulus drives most dogs to seek enclosed spaces (under beds, in closets) rather than open donut-style beds. Pair the bed with a covered crate or place a blanket over three sides to increase the enclosure effect.
Light Grey faux fur can develop a yellowish tinge if dried at high heat. Tumble dry on low only, and remove while slightly damp to air finish. Yellowing on light-colored faux fur is caused by oxidation of the synthetic fibers at temperatures above 60°C — it is permanent and cannot be reversed by washing.
A full-grown Chihuahua (4-6 lbs) fits the XS comfortably when curled. The sleeping surface in XS is roughly 25-28cm after accounting for the raised rim. If your Chihuahua sleeps stretched out rather than curled, the XS will be too small and the S (approximately 50cm) provides more room.
